Framebar is a refreshing and stylish gathering place in history-rich Athens. It is located in the St. George Lycabettus Boutique Hotel, in the chic Kolonaki quarter. The most striking of the bar’s many redeeming qualities is the furniture. It does not really look like furniture. It is not an end result of a rule-restricted manufacturing process, but more like a time-warp, a fluid process temporarily halted. It gives you permission to sit, although it also appears like it could morph into something else any time. Architect Dimitris Tsigos calls this a rearticulation of typical furniture using continuous geometries and heat-formed starron (corrian equivalent) and the Spanish marble emperador. Unlike the tourist-tainted landscapes of neighboring Greek Islands; Santorini, Greece provides a seemingly untouched backdrop of white hills, red beaches and blue seas. Beyond the intricately detailed infrastructure, Ikies has become renowned for its obsession with service. One satisfied review read, “Their staff lives for nothing more than to refill your cocktail.” Continental breakfast, light fare and cocktails are all served to your room (or terrace or pool area).
